Interestingly, a game isn't necessarily on my list just because it is 'good' - some of it boils down to nostalgia and me being picky over certain elements. I've sorted this list into categories.
Perhaps we can agree to disagree on some of them??? =D
I've highlighted what I think are some of the outstanding ones in each category.
Outright Favourite Games
Advance Wars (Series as a whole)
Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time****
Dragon Age: Inquisition^
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy***
Rayman Origins*
The Last of Us
The Talos Principle
Highly Commendable (~9 - 9.5 out of 10)
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham City
Crash Bandicoot (Series as whole)
Crash Team Racing
Donkey Kong 2
Rayman Legends*
Sid & Al's Incredible Toons**
The Elder Scrolls (Series as a whole)
Tomba!
Uncharted (Series as a whole)
Commendable (~8.5 - 9 out of 10)
Civilization IV
Diablo II
Dragon Age
Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time
Street Fighter (Series as a whole)
Tales of Xillia
Terraria
Tomb Raider (Series as a whole)
Argh, games agonizingly close to Commendable but I couldn't in good conscience put them there (even though I'd like to)
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Ni No Kuni
Tales of Symphonia
Valkyria Chronicles
Highly Influential Games - Games that were not necessarily fantastic but still (often, positively) influenced the way I thought about games
Ape Escape
Arc the Lad^^
Beneath a Steel Sky
Bugs Bunny and Taz: Time Busters
Doom
Duke Nukem
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
(The Final Fantasy Series)
Hocus Pocus
Kingdom Hearts Series
Kingsley's Adventure
Megaman X4
Pokemon (Series as a whole)
Super Punch-Out!!
The Simpsons Game
The Spirit Engine
Wolfenstein
+ certain games from the DOS CDs titled '101 Only the Best Games' or '101 Best Games' which I can't remember the names of
Games that I admire from a gameplay point of view and enjoyed playing, but they aren't really my genre and I don't classify them as 'favourites' as such
Bioshock
FIFA series
Halo
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Starcraft
*(Although there is an argument to be had that, because Rayman Legends essentially includes Rayman Origins' levels, Rayman Legends is just as good as Rayman Origins -- but I think of the two as separate games)
** Fond childhood memories of playing this on the DOS disc '101 Games'.
*** The second game I thought was rather poor, although some of it was quite good.
**** I feel strange about this one. Though objectively not everyone's favourite, for some reason I really loved this game.
^ Still playing these.
^^ I want to revisit this, as I can't quite recall the details - I was very young when I played this.
Andre Lim
And I love Player Unknown Battlegrounds as it is presented on skinsmarket.com.

ReplyDeleteSo games can help you develop muscle memory and psyche memory. In the event that you can store things in game you need to recall where you put it, or then again in the event that you need a formula to make something you may recollect the formula, or perhaps you recollect an insight regarding something significant, or possibly you recall the way through a labyrinth or the way home.
